This week’s post will just be a short encouragement as I take time to observe much-needed rest. Too often, we can get caught up in doing so much, feeling far behind and trying to catch up, that we become overwhelmed and stressed, forgetting an important principle: Be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10).
The first few years of my faith walk, I made to-do lists that were far too long in an attempt to “catch up” — sermons to watch, Bible studies to do, podcast episodes and testimonies to watch, you name it. All of those things are great, but in moderation. In the midst of all those to-do lists, I often forgot the one thing that was needed: sitting at the feet of Jesus and developing a personal relationship with him.
Remember the story of Martha and Mary and Jesus’ words to Martha: “But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her.” (Luke 10:42)
All that to say, we should all take time to slow down and assess our walk with the Lord. Spend quality time with Him in prayer and repentance. Spend quality time reading and studying His Word daily. Just rest in His presence and be still.
Until next time, Lord willing, shalom to my brothers and sisters in Christ. May you have a blessed rest of your week and a restful weekend.
