In my previous post, I shared helpful Bible study books that have been instrumental in my study time with the Lord. Today, I want to share the non-fiction Christian books that have greatly enriched my walk.

These books have deepened my faith and encouraged me to grow in both knowledge and application of God’s Word. Whether you’re looking for encouragement or deeper knowledge on a particular topic like prayer or spiritual warfare, I pray this list offers something meaningful for your journey as well.

Bible Study Tips

This book by Faith Womack of Bible Nerd Ministries is a great read to help you get more out of your Bible study time. Drawing from her own experience, Faith offers practical, engaging methods to make Bible study enjoyable, meaningful, and transformative so that readers can grow closer to God.

History and Archaeology 

Josephus The Complete Works: Encounter the World and Traditions that Jesus Knew 

If you want to understand the history behind the scriptures, this is a great historical reference. Flavius Josephus was a first-century Pharisee and Jewish historian who documented aspects of life during the time of Christ and wrote extensively on ancient Jewish history. This is a very long read, but it gives an incredibly eye-opening behind-the-scenes look at Biblical figures like Abraham, Joseph, Moses, John the Baptist, and more.

Zondervan Handbook of Biblical Archaeology: A Book by Book Guide to Archaeological Discoveries Related to the Bible

If you love Biblical archaelogy and are fascinated by all the discoveries that prove the Bible and God is real, the you will enjoy this helpful resource. It goes book-by-book through the Bible and provides pictures, history and insights into many archaelogical discoveries from ancient sites mentioned in each book.

Morning Devotionals

Through the Psalms: Meditations for Inspiration, Strength and Intimacy with the Good Shepherd

This book offers 101 reflections on the Book of Psalms drawn from the late Pastor Derek Prince’s decades of study and personal meditation. The devotional is a great way to refresh yourself in the Psalms and gain more insight into their wisdom and beauty.

This devotional by Gretchen Saffles encourages believers to prioritize time with God’s Word before the distractions of daily life. Through a 100-day devotional journey, she helps readers build a rhythm of seeking Jesus first.

Books on Healing and Spiritual Growth

Heart Rehab: Finding the You God Created You to Be

The author, Pastor Jerry Flowers, Jr., is a good Biblical teacher I have followed since near the beginning of my faith walk. This book is a great compilation of wisdom based on several of his teachings and really gets to the root of barriers that can impede spiritual growth, such as past trauma and overthinking.

The Well-Watered Woman: Rooted in Truth, Growing in Grace, Flourishing in Faith

The Well-Watered Woman by Gretchen Saffles encourages spiritually weary women to root their identity in God’s Word. Through scripture and her own stories, she shows how pursuing Jesus leads to fullness and freedom in our everyday lives.

Invisible Disabilities: How to Conquer What is Conquering You

Pastor Issac Curry’s book explains how cycles of dysfunction and unresolved trauma can damage our relationships, self-worth and emotional health. The book encourages honest reflection with ourselves, others, and God as the first step toward confronting those struggles and moving toward healing and wholeness.

Prayer Wins: Unlocking The Power of Effective Prayer

This book by William Jackson teaches you how to move beyond routine prayers and how to align your heart to pray with purpose and confidence. It provides practical guidance for strengthening your prayer life, overcoming spiritual discouragement, and building a lifestyle where prayer becomes a first response to life’s challenges.

All the Prayers of the Bible 

This book explores the many prayers found throughout the scriptures and explains what each book of the Bible teaches about the purpose and power of prayer. It is a great resource for in-depth studies on prayer, especially if you are looking to grow your prayer life.

Biblical Teachings from Derek Prince

*These are all wonderful reads and there are so many, so I have just listed the majority of them out and omitted the ones I own and haven’t started reading yet. The late Derek Prince was a solid Biblical teacher and I highly recommend any and all of his books.

If I had to pick just three below, I would say my favorites have been Foundational Truths for Christian Living, Rules of Engagement, and Blessing or Curse.

Foundational Truths For Christian Living

This is a wonderful resource for a lot of what all believers need to know to live a Spirit-filled life. Prince draws from six decades of Scripture-based teaching and study to explain the foundations for Christian faith, salvation, baptism, the Holy Spirit, and much more.

The Power of Faith: Entering into the Fullness of God’s Possibilities

God’s Medicine Bottle: A Guide to Restoring Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Health
